LIZ BUTLER

MULLION CREEK PRODUCTIONS

A documentary film maker since 1988, Liz actually started her working life in 1980 as a research scientist studying the pathology of human muscle fibres.  A born observer, Liz found the transition to film making a natural one exchanging the world below the microscope for the  world behind the camera lens as she captured the detail and beauty of the world’s animal life and geology both above and below the ocean’s surface. During her career, Liz has produced over 25 natural history documentaries which involved close partnerships with scientists from all over the world ranging from glaciologists to entomologists.

As a resident of Orange since 2002 and  via her continued film making and support of the arts and local artists, Liz is keen to introduce both the local and broader art community to the Nexus concept.

TRUE LEARNING

As an experienced educator with a passion for natural science, Wendy has made it her career to encourage young people into the sciences by turning them onto the wonders of the natural world. Through ‘True Learning,’ Wendy’s passion is to show that the study of natural science is not just an intellectual discipline but one which is highly visual and deeply personal.

Previously, Wendy established the Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE) Program at the University of Western Sydney and currently supports the RuralUP program which connects tertiary medicine and health science students with professional experiences in rural areas.

She brings to Nexus her passion for science and her access to the scientific and educational community both in Orange and further afield.
